A Collaboration Inspired by Patton’s Vocal Style
Beth revealed that Patton’s unique vocal approach played a major role in shaping the song. His ability to shift between powerful crooning and atmospheric whispers made him the perfect collaborator for the track.
According to the artist, the song was originally written as a two-part composition with her longtime collaborator Johnny Hostile, and Patton quickly emerged as the ideal voice to complement the concept.
“When Mike sent his vocals, it was like choosing candy in a candy store,” Beth said. “He had a million ideas. It was mind-blowing.”

A Song About Online Influence and Deception
“Look At Me” explores the theme of modern self-proclaimed gurus and influencers who claim to hold the key to personal improvement online.
Beth described the track as a commentary on those who present themselves as guides to truth and self-betterment while primarily seeking attention and influence.
The song, she explained, examines the psychological impact of misleading ideologies and the people who fall under their influence.
‘Taxi Driver’-Inspired Music Video
The song’s music video draws visual inspiration from the classic film Taxi Driver, directed by Martin Scorsese.
In the video, Beth portrays a character inspired by Robert De Niro’s iconic role as a lonely outsider struggling to find their place in the world. Patton appears as a preacher-like figure whose influence gradually alters her character’s outlook.
The project blends gritty cinematic storytelling with visual styles influenced by photographers such as Martin Parr and the films of Gregg Araki, exploring themes of alienation and rebellion.

Brighton – Patterns (17 March)
London – Tufnell Park Dome (18 March)
Manchester – YES Pink Room (19 March)

Critical Acclaim for ‘You Heartbreaker, You’
Since its release, You Heartbreaker, You has received strong praise from critics. Music magazine MOJO described the record as a “sensuous pile-driving mix,” while Pitchfork noted Beth’s confident artistic direction. The album explores themes of emotional vulnerability and survival in a fractured world, delivering a raw and uncompromising sound that continues to define Beth’s distinctive solo career.
