TobySensey is an Afrofusion artist from Lagos, Nigeria, with roots in Imo State. His sound is shaped by a mix of experiences—growing up in a music-loving household, moving to the U.S. for college, and later returning home to Nigeria to find his voice. Influenced by everything from Michael Jackson and Notorious B.I.G. to grime, R&B, and Afrobeats, his music blends genres in a way that feels natural, personal, and full of feeling.
TobySensey’s latest EP, Reckless, is his most emotionally raw and sonically ambitious project to date. Described by the artist as “a catastrophic, beautiful mess,” the EP plays like a short film—each track reflecting a different mood and moment from a turbulent chapter in his life. It shifts shape as it unfolds, starting off energetic and vibrant before slowly settling into more introspective, textured tones. Despite the shifts in tempo and genre, the project maintains a cohesive Afro-rooted essence throughout.
At the heart of Reckless lies the standout single “For You/With You,” proving to be one of his most heartfelt songs yet. It's smooth, soulful, and honest, capturing the tension between love and letting go. Inspired by new-age R&B and driven by soft, steady drums, the track reflects on what it means to fall in love after surviving pain and chaos—choosing to embrace something good, even when it feels unfamiliar. Like much of his music, it invites listeners into his world—but leaves space for their own meaning, too.
Now running his independent label, Scatterbrain Records, TobySensey continues to carve out space for his vision while paving the way for others with similar stories. His music, rooted in personal experience but designed to resonate widely, is a reminder that no matter how far we drift, re-connection is always possible through sound.
