There’s something a bit special about live music on a summer’s evening — and when you throw in a day at the races, a few cold drinks, and one of Britain’s best-loved pop bands, you’ve got a recipe for a truly memorable night. That’s exactly what 24Seven Lifestyle got at Market Rasen Racecourse on Friday 13th June, where Scouting for Girls played to a buzzing crowd after a day of racing, laughter and sunshine.

The atmosphere throughout the day was nothing short of brilliant. From the moment we arrived, there was a sense of excitement in the air. People were pouring in dressed to impress — summer dresses, suits, fascinators, and it was clear who was there solely to see the amazing Scouting for Girls. Whether it was the thrill of a flutter, the fun of the food stalls, or just catching up with friends, there was something in the air that made the whole place feel alive.
But if the races were the warm-up, the gig afterwards was the main event. As the last race wrapped up and the stage started to light up, the crowd shifted into full-on festival mode. There was a real mix of people — families, groups of mates, couples on a date night — all coming together for the music.
Scouting for Girls hit the stage just as the sun was beginning to set, and from the very first chords, the energy lifted. As soon as the gig kicked off you could feel the nostalgia hit the crowd like a wave. I looked around and saw people smiling, arms in the air, phones out to record the moment — everyone seemed to know the words.

We took the chance to chat with a few people in the crowd. Some had come for the racing and were pleasantly surprised by how good the gig was turning out. But others were die-hard fans who were clearly here for the band.
One group of friends told us they’d travelled over 80 miles to be there — and they’ve been following Scouting for Girls for 17 years. Others told us “We never miss a show if we can help it, it’s not just the music — it’s the memories.”

And that’s exactly what it felt like. Every song was a throwback — from “She’s So Lovely” to “Elvis Ain’t Dead” and the ever-emotional “This Ain’t a Love Song.” It wasn’t just a performance, it was a collective karaoke session, a crowd full of people reliving nights out, road trips, and first loves.
Roy Stride was in top form, chatting between songs and making everyone feel part of the moment. He even joked about playing a gig at a racecourse on Friday the 13th — “What could possibly go wrong?” (Spoiler: nothing did.)

As the evening wrapped up and the crowd started to thin, there was that lovely post-gig feeling in the air — a mix of joy, tired legs, and shared moments. People lingered, not quite ready for the night to end.
All in all, it was a perfect blend of racing day buzz and evening music magic. If you ever get the chance to catch Scouting for Girls live — especially in a setting like this — don’t think twice. It’s more than just a concert. It’s a reminder of all the little moments we sometimes forget to appreciate.
