24Seven Lifestyle Media held their first community event, Girls in Football in the hopes of inspiring the next generation of female football stars and encourage under represented groups into sport.

It was all smiles, sunshine, and football fever in Market Weighton on 30th October as 24Seven Lifestyle joined forces with Barclays and Sported to host an empowering Girls in Football event — a celebration of community, inclusion, and the beautiful game.

With the goal of encouraging underrepresented groups to get involved in sport, the event brought together families, local businesses, and aspiring young athletes for a day filled with energy, teamwork, and inspiration.

Local pride was front and centre as Market Weighton Town FC came on board, with their dedicated coaches delivering fun, skill-building sessions for girls of all ages. From friendly kickabouts to mini drills and games, the coaches helped boost confidence and show that football is truly a sport for everyone.

Adding an extra layer of inclusion and wellbeing to the day, the CAPSule Sensory Van also joined the event. The mobile sensory space offered a calm and welcoming environment where attendees could take a break, relax, and experience the benefits of sensory engagement. It was a wonderful addition that highlighted the importance of accessibility, mindfulness, and creating supportive spaces for everyone in the community — both on and off the pitch.

The community spirit didn’t stop there. Local businesses stepped up to sponsor the event, while Tesco provided a refreshing selection of healthy drinks and snacks to keep everyone fuelled throughout the day.

A real highlight was the appearance of Jess Clarke, professional women’s footballer and former Lioness, who shared her journey from grassroots to the top level. Jess led an engaging Q&A session, answering questions from the girls and offering words of motivation that resonated with everyone in attendance. Of course, no event would be complete without a few selfies — and Jess was more than happy to pose for photos with the next generation of football stars.

The day captured the heart of what 24Seven Lifestyle stands for — community, opportunity, and empowerment. Together with partners Barclays, Sported, and Market Weighton Town FC, the initiative shone a light on the importance of creating spaces where young girls feel encouraged and supported to pursue their sporting dreams.

As the final whistle blew, one thing was clear — this was more than just a football event. It was a powerful reminder that when a community comes together, barriers are broken, and the next generation is inspired to play, dream, and achieve.
